Molly's story

What comes to mind when you think of a youth hostel? Probably not very clean, very basic but okay for a night if you’re trying to save pennies when you’re on holiday or travelling? But not the equivalent of a home. Not a place to live. Well, for Molly, it was.

I thought it would be okay, but I was really scared and felt completely alone. Youth hostels don’t feel safe. But I didn’t have anyone I could turn to or rely on and I didn’t know what to do.

Since coming to Care to Dance, Molly has found somewhere she belongs, somewhere she feels safe, free and believes in herself. Her confidence is growing and she’s pushing herself to achieve more because she’s seen that she can overcome obstacles, especially with the right support and with a team behind her.

Joining Care to Dance lets me be free. It has helped me to dance in a place with no pressure to be perfect. Dancing is an outlet for me to express myself and makes me feel happy. I can really put my emotions into my dancing and I love it. I have built confidence and relationships with people in Care to Dance.

Molly has now started teaching dance and getting work experience in a couple of different places. She has also been accepted onto a university dance course to get a degree.

I am so excited, although quite nervous! Dance means so much to me. This would never have been possible if it wasn't for Care to Dance, and I can't wait to use what I learn at university back with the team.
